Bio
Junie Brown is an interdisciplinary artist and activist born and raised in Kansas City, MO. She uses her art as a form of self discovery, navigating topics of gender, cultural and sexual identities. Struggling to see herself represented in mainstream media, she hopes to create a space in which others of intersecting identities can. Brown is a transgender woman with Nigerian, Native American and Spanish heritage, and is currently working toward her BFA in painting at the Kansas City Art Institute. She has been featured in over a dozen galleries, publications, and events across the greater Kansas City area since beginning her college education, including notable galleries like Vulpes-Bastille, Leedy Vulkous Art Center, and KCAI Gallery, and publishers like KC Studio Magazine and the Kansas City Star.
